Christal Benton Stone, Attorney
Christal Benton Stone practices family law and domestic relations in Virginia and the District of Columbia. Since 2015, she has worked as a domestic relations advocate in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia and is well-known by her clients as a zealous advocate and a trusted legal partner. Christal’s clients appreciate that she takes the time to develop a personal relationship with them and their children, and her clients often stay in touch with her for years to come.
Christal concentrates her practice in the area of contested family law litigation, representing clients in matters involving contested and uncontested divorce, equitable distribution and property division, child custody and visitation, paternity, protective orders, marital and pre-marital agreements, and child and spousal support.
Christal's background and training in psychology make her an effective listener and counselor. Understanding the financial and personal strain of contested litigation, Christal chooses to practice law by emphasizing effective dispute resolution whenever possible. She has extensive experience in reaching resolutions in complicated and emotional child custody matters. By choosing to be an empathetic advocate, she is understanding, responsive, and sensitive to the emotional needs of her clients.
Christal is a Virginia native and resident of Fairfax County. With the exception of attending the University of Pennsylvania for graduate school and training, she has lived in the Commonwealth for most of her life. Prior to passing bar exams in Virginia and the District of Columbia, Christal worked in a Virginia law firm that practiced exclusively in family law and volunteered in non-profit organizations representing victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and those in need of emergency and final protective orders.

Background
Shortly after her admission to the District of Columbia Bar, Christal completed a federal clerkship for the Honorable Judge John E. Sparks at the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Christal's clerkship and her internships in military courts have given her an in-depth understanding of military life and benefits, the United States Code of Military Justice, and court-martial procedure. This gives her personal knowledge of the complications of military divorce and custody disputes.
As a former USCAAF clerk, Christal maintains relationships and connections with court staff and Judges. She strives to remain knowledgeable of updates to the UCMJ and the overall process of military divorce.
