Background

Joseph B. Mullaney

Joseph B. Mullaney attended Frostburg State University in Maryland where he received a Bachelor of Science with concentrations in Political Science and Justice Studies in 1995. He then spent time working as the Aide to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist at the Supreme Court of the United States and  to Associate Justice Stephen G. Breyer . While employed at the Supreme Court, Mr. Mullaney attended Georgetown University's Legal Assistant and Paralegal Program. Also while working at the Supreme Court, he earned his law degree from George Mason University School of Law in 2003, where he was a member of the Evening Law Student's Association and a Writing Fellow.

Upon graduation, Mr. Mullaney was a law clerk for the Honorable Jonathan C. Thacher, Fairfax County Circuit Court, 19th Judicial District. At the conclusion of his clerkship, he worked as an associate attorney at the law firm of Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, LLP, in Washington, DC, where he practiced all aspects of civil and criminal litigation; including domestic relations law at the trial and appellate levels.

Mr. Mullaney is involved in all aspects of the firm's representation including divorce, custody and support matters and has handled cases in Fairfax, Prince William and Arlington Counties and the City of Alexandria.

Mr. Mullaney is an active member of the Virginia State Bar (Family Law Section), the Fairfax Bar Association (Family Law Section) and the Virginia Trial Lawyer's Association.
